Tarpon Springs Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Pasco County
A Tarpon Springs man died after a motorcycle crash in Pasco County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened on Friday just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Leonard Road in Lutz.
The 24-year-old man was riding his Suzuki motorcycle southbound on U.S. 41 when troopers say an eastbound Ford SUV attempted to turn left from Leonard Road onto U.S. 41 and traveled into the path of the man’s motorcycle.
Troopers believe the man tried to avoid a collision with the SUV, but the front of his motorcycle hit the left side of the vehicle.
The man was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital-North where he was pronounced dead. Trooper did say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ford SUV, a 27-year-old man, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital-North for minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol said charges are pending.
