Pasco County Injury Attorney :: Dade City Pedestrian Killed in Parking Lot Hit-and-Run
A Dade City pedestrian was struck and killed in a parking lot early Sunday by a vehicle that fled the scene , according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 25-year-old man was walking across the parking lot at Zephyrhills Plaza at State Road 54 and Coats Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. when what authorities think is a blue sport utility vehicle was stopped, but then moved towards the man.
The FHP said he was struck by the SUV and died at the scene.
Troopers are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run collision to call the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-631-4020.
A hit-and-run accident can leave another motorist, pedestrian or bicyclist severely injured or killed. These situations, as sad as they are, can be further complicated when the reckless or negligent driver flees the scene of the accident, leaving no clues to their whereabouts. Victims of hit-and-run accidents and their families are then left to wonder what their rights are and how they are going to deal with the devastating aftermath of the hit-and-run.
While you may not hear about these types of accidents in the news very often, hit-and-run accidents are not uncommon. Even though it is illegal to flee the scene of an accident where a person has been injured or property has been damaged, drivers do not always do the right thing, especially if they are intoxicated and scared to face the consequences of their actions.
