Pasco County Injury Attorney :: Britax Voluntarily Recalls 55,455 Car Seats
Dade City, FL – Earlier this month, child car seat manufacturer Britax issued a voluntary recall of 55,455 convertible car seats currently sold in the United States.
The reason for the recall stems from a potential choking hazard to children. According to the company, it is possible for tiny pieces of the HUGS pads connected to the car seat’s harness straps to come lose should children bite or gnaw on them.
The recall includes several different models of convertible car seats, including the following:
- Pavilion 70-G3
- Boulevard 70-G3
- Advocate 70-G3
The above seats were manufactured this past summer, from June 2012 through August 2012.
Britax plans to remedy the defective pad by providing users with more durable pads constructed of a different material. Owners of any affected car seats are urged to remove the HUGS pad until their replacement pad is received.
Parents throughout the Pasco County area know that there are certain products you must have when caring for a child – a solid, reliable car seat likely being the most important. Car seats ensure the safety of your child as they travel with you from one place to another in a vehicle. Because car seats are so heavily relied upon for the safety of so many children, it can be devastating when these seats fail to live up to what they are designed to do.
While it is unclear at this time whether any children suffered any injuries due to malfunctions with the car seat pads, if anyone was harmed, parents may have the option of filing a personal injury lawsuit for damages. If consumers have any questions regarding the recall, they are encouraged to contact Britax Child Safety, Inc., at (888) 427-4829 or by visiting their website here .
