Golf Cart Driver Killed After Colliding With Truck in Brooksville

An 84-year-old man driving a golf cart was killed Tuesday afternoon in Brooksville after he apparently attempted to turn in front of a pickup on U.S. 19.

The man was traveling north on the highway around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when he tried to change lanes and turn in front of a 1996 Ford truck.

Florida Highway Patrol believes the man had been going about 10 mph.

The front of the Ford struck the left side of the golf cart, causing the cart to become lodged on the truck. The golf cart driver was ejected from the vehicle onto the pavement. He was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The 62-year-old truck driver was not injured.
