Golf Cart Driver Killed After Colliding With Truck in Brooksville
September 20, 2012
An 84-year-old man driving a golf cart was killed Tuesday afternoon in Brooksville after he apparently attempted to turn in front of a pickup on U.S. 19.
The man was traveling north on the highway around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when he tried to change lanes and turn in front of a 1996 Ford truck.
Florida Highway Patrol believes the man had been going about 10 mph.
The front of the Ford struck the left side of the golf cart, causing the cart to become lodged on the truck. The golf cart driver was ejected from the vehicle onto the pavement. He was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The 62-year-old truck driver was not injured.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are around 15,000 golf cart injuries per year across the United States. After an accident, physical evidence needs to be gathered and the accident site needs to be thoroughly investigated and analyzed to determine what exactly caused the accident. Sometimes these accidents are caused by negligent or drunk drivers. Other times, the golf cart may have malfunctioned due to being defective or lacking proper warnings. Despite the cause, the responsible party should be held accountable for your losses.
