Family of Citrus County Informant Killed Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Bay News 9 is reporting that the family of a Citrus County woman who was killed while working as a confidential informant has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.

The family claims they attempted on multiple occasions to obtain public records on the case from the sheriff’s office, but never received them.

The woman, who was working as a confidential informant at the time, was shot during a drug deal.

The lawsuit alleges the woman shouldn’t have had any contact with criminals due to her probation requirements. It also claims that the sheriff’s office failed to protect her after advising her supervisors she feared for her life.

The family believes that the sheriff’s office had an obligation and duty to keep the woman safe and that because of their negligence and arrogance the woman died.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office failed to comment on the lawsuit.

The statute of limitations to file a wrongful death suit in Florida is two years.

In this woman’s case, her family would not have been able to file after mid-July of this year.

The sudden death of a loved one is one of the most difficult things to experience, especially when that death was caused by another person’s reckless or negligent behavior. Most families are left grieving and dealing with unexpected financial expenses. After the unfortunate death of a relative or loved one, family members can seek the compensation that they deserve through what is known as a wrongful death lawsuit.

Wrongful death lawsuits can give family members the funds needed to cover funeral costs, medical expenses and other financial assistance related to a loved one’s loss. If your loved one was the breadwinner in your household, a wrongful death lawsuit can help make sure that you and your family are taken care of both now and in the future.

While a wrongful death lawsuit cannot change the past, it can provide you and your family with the adequate means necessary to ensure that your future is secure.
