GM Recalls Another 2.42 Million Vehicles Over Four Different Issues

General Motors has had a less than successful year. Earlier this year, at least 13 deaths and countless accidents were noted after it came to light that the ignition switch in several of the company’s popular models was faulty, resulting in drivers losing control of their vehicles. Even worse, evidence was brought forward alleging that GM may have known about the problems and decided to still sell the cars anyways.

Just last week, GM announced another round of recalls covering an additional 2.42 million vehicles. Evidently, there are four different issues with the various models, including the following:

• Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV over a problem affecting the airbags
• Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia for a seatbelt problem
• Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 over a shift cable
• Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra HD over a problem that may cause a fire

These vehicles join more than 2 million other cars that have been recalled by GM earlier this year.

As of now, GM has agreed to pay over $35 million in penalties for the way they have handled the safety issues. GM has also made promises to readdress its safety standards.
