Beverly Hills Man Killed in Crystal River Car Accident
A Beverly Hills man died Sunday morning when he lost control of his vehicle and drove off a highway around 2:20 a.m. in Crystal River.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 49-year-old man drove over a curb and landed in a ditch before his vehicle became airborne and finally landed at a Kangaroo Gas Station near the side of the highway.
Once at the gas station, the man’s car struck two unoccupied vehicles, a 2000 Dodge
Durango and a 1987 Dodge Aries.
The driver died instantly. FHP claims the man was not wearing a seatbelt.
It is unknown at this time what caused the man to lose control of his vehicle.
While nothing can guarantee your safety on the road, seatbelts can seriously lower the chances of suffering catastrophic and fatal injuries in car accidents. Seatbelts, when used properly, reduce the risk of death to front-seat car occupants by 45 percent, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Likewise, wearing seatbelts has been shown to decrease the risk of moderate to critical injuries in car accidents by 50 percent.
When you lose a family member or loved one, despite how they died, the entire experience can be devastating. No amount of money can ease the pain of your loss, but when another driver’s negligence or a defective product results in the death of a loved one, you may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim. Your family may be dealing with financial strain on top of emotional anguish after losing a family member that was the primary wage earner. There are numerous financial losses that can be sought in a wrongful death lawsuit, including present and future wages, funeral and burial expenses, medical expenses, loss of companionship and even punitive damages. Close family members and any dependents may be included in a wrongful death claim. This generally includes a spouse and children, but can extend to parents and other family members depending on the circumstances.
